Whirlwind Update (Christoph)  Monday, June 13, 2005
hey there. ya miss me? hmm..... well I sure have. I missed ya, and I missed me. It's been a real whirlwind the last couple months. Bike races: Good Results. Bad results. Chicks: Chicks coming. Chicks going. The 'taint: Saddle sores coming. Saddles sores going.

I graduated from school last month. HUZZAH to that! All the fam'ly came into town for that. A keg of Blue Moon for the after-party and there were good times all-around. Ian brought some girly-drinks 'cuz he's really not into the beer thing. Kudos to him. I love those sweet drinks but I just won't get them myself. Cheery Cherry Delight.

I'm glad Ian's been holding down the fort here at 2SkinnyPros. Now we need a some extra positive stuff. All these knee injury stories and shoe adjustments are overwhelming me.

I'm going to Utah tomorrow. Park City. Home of Polligamy Porter. U23 Nationals happens in a few weeks so I'm spending a little time out there to get used to the 7,000 feet altitude.

I plan on doing a little riding and alot of chillin'. Livin' la vida freakin' loca. I'm gonna find a little cafe along the downtown strip and sit until the lines from the chair are permanently imprinted on my 135-pound butt. I guess I don't really have a 135 pound butt. I guess I just have a butt attached to my 135 body. I'd venture to guess I have about a 24 pound butt.

The 24 pound boootay did 2 crits last weekend. Saturday was in downtown West Chester PA. There were $10 thousand on the line and the crowd was huge. It was like a miniature Athens Twighlight crit. A bunch of pro teams had guys representin'. Navigators, Colavita, Jittery Joe's, Aerospace Engineering, and of course the powerhouse Snow Valley team. I made it into a 7-man break and we eventually lapped the field. The break had 2 Navigators, 1 Aerospace Engineering dude, and some fast amateurs like Joe Papp. I didn't stand much of a chance in the sprint, so I attacked with 2 laps to go. Whoooooopsy. I got a tiny lead but then they chased me down and I blew up, so I ended up finishing 7th. With my teammates in 8th and 14th we made some excellent cash.

Sunday was the Snow Valley Classic Bethesday Crit in MD. It was a must-win race for the sponsors. We pretty much dominated. All the mid-atlantic folks were there, but we controlled the race from start to finish. I did some work for the team, covering moves, etc. With Kyle and Jon D lapping the field we took 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 6th. Schwing!

That is all. Now let's see some smart-ass comments.

engaging confusion (Ian)  Friday, June 03, 2005
I downloaded some new tunes tonight. if you can analyze how they all fit together to define my current state of mind, please let me know what my stage of mind actually is. the tunes:
Lola's Theme by Shape:UK
I've Been Thinking About You by Londonbeat
The Power of Love by Celine Dion
Lady Marmalade by Chrstina Aguilera
Love of Strings by Moby, and
C'mon N' Ride It (The Train) by Quad City DJ's

I am looking forward to getting my spin instructor certification so that I can start leading some spin classes. (no, actually i was going to use the certification to groom pets, wtf) Yes, so I think the most fun part will be putting together mixes of music that will drive tha energy level through the roof. I can't imagine anyone NOT being able to break a buttery sweat to Lola's Theme. Holy crap, move it GIRL!

SO, yesterday I did my FIRST ride after taking about 9 days COMPLETELY off the bike for da tendonitis. And guess what happens 2 minutes and 32 seconds into the ride?????

I GOT HIT BY A CAR.

Luckly it was not a huge crash, but it was enough to twist around my STI lever into my handlebar and cause my knucles to bleed and bruise my battlefield-scarred elbows. I don't think either of us was at fault... I was going up on the right of a line of stopped cars, and this dude was in the oncoming lane and made a left through the line of cars, into me. He was nice and said I could stop by his place if I need money. LOL. Shit i need money!

Otherwise, today I visited Pam Wilson, a truly excellent chiropractor/orthopedic specialist/muscles/bones/wellbeing doctor who helped me adjust my bike position... hopefully to insure that my tendonitis doesn't come back, now that i'm going to start from square one again. below is a picture of my transitionatory cleat setup, one fixed one float. red and yellow makes me think of Ronald McDonald. Someone get this man a Happy Meal.

Also, last week I met this totally cool girl at the shop who will be riding her bike across our United States of America with Habitat's Bike and Build program. 63 days to get across the US. This totally warrants a 2skinnypros shoutout. www.bikeandbuild.org

C'mon N' Ride It (your bike)
